Contact Form Spam Print E-mail
Monday, 07 May 2007 13:06
[Issue] We are aware that the spammers have discovered the contact forms on the listing pages. It was hoped that the nature of the URL pathing would keep these from being discovered so quickly, but these people have no shame and will spam anything with a pulse.

We plan to install a CAPTCHA (an acronym for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart", trademarked by Carnegie Mellon University) system on the forms in the next week or so.

Fix for Wayward Emails Print E-mail
Tuesday, 03 April 2007 23:00
[Bug Fix] We have installed a fix for the problems that have been going on with emails from the system not being delivered. The problem was not with the F-a-T system per se. Rather it was some of the larger email hosts (Comcast, AOL, etc.) who have become somewhat more aggressive in their spam protection. They required certain mail headers to be set more specifically, so mail scripts which had been perfectly fine for years and years now suddenly broke.

The fix uses a different mechanism of sending email which authenticates the sending server the way these mail hosts expect. Hopefully this will resolve all these problems.
